Keep An Eye In The Mail Or Here On The Blog

Your NCGA dues money for 2012 will be due soon, so don't delay when your bill comes in the mail. Also, Hime is putting the finishing touches on next year's schedule.
And, finally, Moon is taking over the Club Secretary's position for 2012, leaving Chuck B as Handicap Chairman.

Sitting In Dayton Valley's Clubhouse

That's Earl in the top pic on the right, in the striped shirt. If he brings cookies, don't eat them and expect to play well or pass a drug test.

Joe With John V

I've known John V for a long time, but have only golfed with him once or twice. To play with Bap, you need to have deep pockets and a penchant for giving money to him.

Joe Posing With The Beautiful Vanessa

Vanessa managed to sell me a shot of Crown Royal to improve my game. Sadly, it didn't help.

On The Course

I didn't take as many pics at Dayton on Sunday as I did on Friday and Saturday. So, this is it for on course pics. I'll note here that the top pic is of the 4th hole. Ron S scored a hole in one on this hole about a month before Daddy Longball. Way to go Ron!

Posing With The Beautiful Heather

The beautiful Heather was our cart girl on this day. She was very easy on the eyes and enjoyable to talk to. Heather and her husband run a dump truck and backhoe service during construction season and her husband drives a snowplow for Caltrans in the winter. He works out of Woodfords so he plowed SH-88, the way I came up from the Bay Area.
Heather added that the course is for sale, and has been for the last 6 years. They had a buyer a few years ago but it fell through. The sister course, Sierra Nevada (or the "resort" course of Genoa Lakes, we played the original course, the "lakes" course) is for sale as well and the owner is trying to sell them both together. Good luck with that in this economy.
Finally, on the Heather report, she told us that a couple of weeks ago she left her wedding ring on the bathroom shelf and went to work. By her count, she got hit on at least 17 times by interested golfers. It is no wonder, she's a good looking gal.

More From The Front 9

There's deer in the middle picture, on #2 just in front of the tee. I don't think there's been a time I've played at Genoa that I have not seen deer. And not the skinny deer like you see at Sunol, but well fed deer.

More From Genoa Lakes

The Group Behind

Here's Oscar, Mark W and Tony B waiting for us to tee off on 13.

Shots of 11 and 12

My day ended on 11 when I hit a few into the shit on the easiest hole on the course. 12 was the money hole and Cameron Crowe was the boss on Saturday when his tee shot was 8'5" from the hole. I think the winning envelope has $75 in it, but I can't be sure.

Pirates On The Tee

We had a shotgun start at Genoa and one of the Pirate groups was 9a while my group was 9b. It was a stellar day to play golf.

More Casual Pics

That's Jerry F posing with the plaque. His name is on it as well as mine. It was one of the greatest days of my life to win Daddy Longball.

Friday Night's Tri Tip At Joint Venture

For the last couple of years, Mike S has sponsored the tri tip dinner at Joint Venture on the Friday night of the event. Here's a few casual shots of the members at the house.

More Scenic Shots Of The Front 9

By the time we made the turn, the weather had warmed up into the mid 60's and it was simply a stellar day to play golf. The members who wore long pants and long sleeves were hating life by this time of the day. Thunder Canyon is a fair test of golf and though the course was mushy in a few spots it was in decent condition. And, we all got a box lunch to go along with our $65 green fees, so what's not to like?
