Next Month Is Poppy Hills

Be quick to respond to the mailer as this one always sells out. You snooze, and you will lose. Get your money in when you get the mailer.

Par 3's

Char 3) Hime 9'7"
Char 7) Jerry F 19'1"
Zin 2) Dave F 21'1"
Zin 7) Joe S 15'1"

I had the highest gross score and the most putts. But, I won a par 3 which means that you never know when you're going to hit a good shot. That's why you should always toss your $10 in the pot.

Boss Of The Moss

David G was the Boss of the Moss today. 30 putts was the winning score. It appears that the greens were a bit more favorable to the members as only 3 of us had 40+ putts. Sorry David, your picture wouldn't upload.

Almost all the A flight guys broke 100 for the day. 14 of 18. (77.8%)

Bucket And Joe

Bucket got his nickname because he has a size 7.5 head. Hell, mine's 8.25. God only knows what my nickname would be.
Bucket comes to Longball most every year and he's a good guy to golf with. Sadly, I've only golfed with him once or twice.

Tough Pin Placement

The water protected the pin placement on Zin 2 for our round. Here's Moon, Brian, Bug and Tony B lining up their putts. If you look towards the left side of the green where the pin is lying down, that's about where the hole was.

Waiting On The Tee

This is Bucket, Rick W, David C and Bap waiting on Zin 2 for their turn to tee off. Bap had hit his tee shot into the side of the bank but hit a tremendous save to get up onto the green. David C and Bap like to play for skins, I can only recommend staying away from all of that, unless you don't like having money in your pocket. David's GHIN is 6.3, he knows how to play.

Brian H And Joe

Brian H has come out to Longball every year except for one. He's an enjoyable guy to pair up with, I've played with him in a few Friday practice rounds. He's got one of the sharpest tounges around, so you need a thick skin and a sense of humor to be in his foursome. One year at Genoa, I had hit a huge shot on the money hole and the last player in the last group was Brian. Sure as shit he nailes one closer for all the money. Boo Ya for him!

Backup On Zin 2

About the only hole we had to wait on was Zin 2, on the par 3. Here's Tony B's follow through after hitting a tee shot. Tony was much happier with his drive on the long drive hole as he pasted one past everyone else to win the long drive in the B flight. That's Moon looking cold to the right.

More Shots Of The Course

Club Members Warming Up

Shots of the practice tee and the putting green. I think its pretty weak of the NCGA to charge members for range balls. We're paying top dollar to play our course and range balls should come with the green fees.

Our Outing At Poppy Ridge

Poppy Ridge is owned by the members of the NCGA. We're not equity owners, but the NCGA owns the course and we're all members of the NCGA, so in a sense we own the course. It was a windy day in the Livermore Valley, then again what days aren't windy along the foothills towards the Altamont Pass. There was a weak storm front passing through and that kept the temps down and the cool to cold wind up most all of the day.
There are three separate nines at Poppy Ridge, we played the Chardonney 9 and the Zinfandel 9. I don't have a scorecard handy for the name of the third 9. Jeremy G mentioned that he's played this course 4 times and has always played the two nines that we played today.
