A 'John Kennedy Jr.' - didn't quite make it over the water.

A 'Rodney King' - over-clubbed.

An 'O.J.'- got away with one.

A 'Brazilian' - shaved the hole.

A 'Rush Limbaugh' - a little to the right.

Hime's Birthday Cake

The ever wonderful Miss Mary made a yummy birthday cake for Hime, who turned 50 on the 17th. Here's Moon cutting and passing out cake for the members.

Measuring For Closest To The Pin

Jerry F won closest to the pin on the 17th hole. Here's Jerry and Jeremy G measuring out the winning tee shot.

Hole 12 At Diablo Grande

This is one of the hardest holes on the course. If you're not a good golfer, its almost unfair. Hime mentioned that he had the course put the tees up a little bit on a couple of the harder holes. 12 is a ballbuster.
That big tree in the top pic, well, I'm surprised one of the regulars hasn't come out in the middle of the night and cut it down.

Sandra, Our Cart Girl

The cart service at Diablo Grande was timely. It was nice to see the drink cart out and about on a January day.

Chuck B Raking The Trap

Here's Chuck B raking the trap after hitting a beautiful shot out of the fairway sand. This is a lesson that all of us need to heed. Rake you trap every time. Show some pride as a golfer, not a hacker. Represent the Club.
Also note that Chuck B does a lot of work for our enjoyment as Club Handicap Chairman. Its a thankless job to liason with the NCGA, help Hime with the running of the club, and deal with the whining. The next time you see him, thank him for his efforts.

Hime And Group On 7th Green

Here's Hime, Al C, and the Quinzons on the 7th green. The greens were lightning fast, as fast if not faster than the greens in Nevada at the Tournament. Dale P was boss of the moss on this day as he won low putts with 30 putts taken. In my group we had a 4 putt and a 5 putt, of which there's really no excuse for.

Splitting The Front 9

This creek split the front nine and was trouble to right handed fade players. It was jail all the way up a couple of holes, 3-7. There was ample opportunity to ruin your round early, but my group only hit one ball into the creek.

View From The Tee Box

The view from the first tee was very nice. You could see the grape vines are bare, as well as the trees. The outlying hills are still green, Spring is coming to our area. It was a bit hazy for most of the day, our group had trouble following some of our tee shots. Of course it could have been the Crown Royal we shot down before we teed off.

On The First Tee

Some of the houses in the Diablo Grande development had grape vines next to the property lines, as you can see in the top picture. There's a sign on the way in that says "future winery." With the housing market in the tank and the drinking water issues surrounding the water district that serves the housing development, I don't think the winery will ever be built.
Jimmy B and Jerry F are shown in the bottom picture getting ready to tee off in the second group.

Our First Outing Of The Year

Diablo Grande was the location of our first golf outing of the year. Located west of Patterson in the foothills, there are two courses at the complex. We played the Ranch course Sunday, and we'll play the Legends course later in the year.
23 members teed off on a beautiful January day. It hasn't rained in a little bit in Northern California and the course was in top shape for the middle of Winter.
They have a nice clubhouse at Diablo Grande. Its odd, they have "no spikes beyond this point" signs on the stairs and at the front door, but they only allow spikeless spikes on the course.
